Escaping the Ordinary by Lorna Windmill

When the war ended and the wartime SAS disbanded, Jim Almonds sought new challenges. Windmill traces his post-war adventures: advising Emperor Haile Selassie, leading the Eritrean Police Field Force against bandits, and returning to uniform with the re-formed SAS in Malaya. Almonds tackled covert patrols in the jungle, then turned to boatbuilding in Singapore and Africa, handcrafting a 32-foot ketch and sailing it home to England.
