The WW2 Escape Lines Memorial Society [ELMS]

The WW2 Escape Lines Memorial Society is dedicated to the memory of the escapers, evaders and Helpers of WW2, who demonstrated courage, co-operation and humanity in the face of adversity, an example for the generations who follow them.

The WW2 Escape Lines Memorial Society is dedicated to the memory of the escapers, evaders and Helpers of WW2, who demonstrated courage, co-operation and humanity in the face of adversity, an example for the generations who follow them.

Since its inauguration, ELMS has:

  • Established Annual Reunions for members and others, including international students from escape line areas and UK students and cadets.
  • Erected memorials to the helpers and evaders at Eden Camp WW2 Museum and the National Memorial Arboretum
  • Communicated with the membership via regular Newsletters
  • Established an informative website and Face Book page
  • Developed resources for use by educational establishments
  • Developed a collaborative archive of research amongst members.

The Society undertakes commemorative Freedom Trails in France, Spain, The Basque Country, Italy, Slovenia and the Netherlands, in co-operation and liaison with other organisations
